SHASTA LAKE fished great today. We started off by Toupee Island and worked our way to Digger bay. I started off in the morning fishing 55ft. We had steady action from the time we started until we put the last fish on ice. There are still some Shad on the surface and more at the 55ft to 75ft depth. That's where the big Rainbows and Browns are at. Most the fish are spitting up baby shad. Small spoons are the way to go to match the hatch.

SAC RIVER FLY FISHING:  Today I fly fished from Redding to Anderson. The Trout are big and strong right now. The fish are busting off if you don't let them run in this big water. With the flows at 14,000 CFS we are using 2 SSG to get the bugs down to the Rainbows. These fish are full of power right now. The action has been good most of the day with some slow periods.  Caddis and Beatis are the main bug of choice at this time.
